Written feedback from parents of children who have attended the art therapy group“The work you do is invaluable. Children go through so much, but they rarely have the opportunity to be in a space which is dedicated for them to express and work through their feelings. I have seen a difference in his overall self-awareness and ability to talk about his feelings. I really think the weekly sessions have made a difference and have helped him to validate his feelings – I only wish they weren't ending so soon! The improvement in his overall emotional resilience demonstrates what a positive impact you have made.”
“We found that the group helped our son enormously. Being introduced into a smaller group and tackling some key challenges like the ability to regulate his emotions, using his words. We saw immediate upturn in his behaviour and confidence after being introduced to this group and their lovely therapists. I would like to thank the two Art Therapists for such fantastic care and feedback they provided back to us as parents.”
“I believe the Drawing and Playing Group has been hugely beneficial to my son during his time at Batford Nursery. It has provided a dedicated space for him to explore and express his own feelings and emotions during a difficult period in his young life and to understand that others too experience such things and that he is not alone.
My son has clearly used the time within the group for the purpose for which it was intended, on this I have no doubt. It has given him a comfortable environment away from home where he has independent counsell to be able to share his feelings, emotions and channel them into the work done by the group. It has evolved his empathic side and also helped to drop his ‘tough exterior’ which I feel he used as a defend mechanism. This can only be a positive thing and allow his inner vulnerabilities to surface, rather than be bottled up. The two Art Therapists have been fantastic throughout in their regular communications with both sets of parents on our son’s participation, development and interactions within the group environment. The feedback has been reassusring to hear and they have also provided support to me as a parent. The service this group provides has been great, one which I’ve massively appreicated and support. Thank you.” |
Batford Nursery"We have worked alongside the Loreto Drawn Together team for many years supporting families and children. The team draw on their experience and expertise with the use of art / play therapy and talking therapy to gain a greater understanding of the child and family and how best to support them navigate the issues they are facing. Sally, Jen and Rebecca have worked with families who have experienced many different traumas, issues, losses and emotional and behavioural issues in a calm and empathetic way in both 1:1 and group scenarios. They use art and toys to help children express themselves and find age-appropriate words for their feelings. This helps children to make sense, understand and manage their emotions. The children sometimes work in small groups to take part in art activities, supporting their efforts, achievements and creativity and encouraging freedom of expression."

InspireAll Family Centre"The Loreto Drawn Together team of parent-infant Psychotherapists and Art Therapists provide an essential service with local referred families in the St Albans area.
The team use a space at the Family Centre to run the important parent-infant and parent-toddler work, which is undertaken by the Therapist as a parent-infant psychotherapist at InspireAll Family Centre, also the art therapy sessions with under-fives at Batford Nursery. We are pleased to have their input as it supports the needs of families in this area, it also helps us to sign post these families to additional services we may be able to support them with.
